For over 24 years, Joëlle has been a foreign languages public school teacher with a love for movement and art. She has devoted her life to ensure her student’s needs were met as well as the needs of her son, partner, and home. In her “off” time, she’s squeezed in her passions: for teaching Nia by becoming a licenced Black belt, for art and music by receiving her Expressive Arts certificate, for brain research by doing Brain Gym 101 training, all the while creating professional and personal growth and development workshops and seminars for both children and adults. To say the least she has worked hard to fan the flames of her passions as a way to model for her son, doing everything from seeing students, administrative duties, down to cleaning the toilet and taking out the trash.
In 2000, she divorced and realized that she needed to get clear about her finances. She began to read books such as Think and Grow Rich by Robert Kiyosake and Prosperity Thinking by Katherine Ponder and discovered the Law of Attraction. The “what if’s” started to creep into her thoughts - how there was a ceiling on how much money she could make at her job, about how in order to fuel her passions she was trading her hours for dollars and how there never seemed to be enough hours in a day to make a real difference. Being a senior teacher, she thought she was set for life. But soon after her divorce she realized that her current employment was not the key to happiness. So, in June of 2008, after 20 years in the same school, she resigned in order to follow her heart’s desire.
During all that time, she had been looking for an additional stream of income that could provide an alternative source of money should something happen to her or the economy. She was introduced to Team Northrup, a venture started by Dr. Christiane Northrup, author of Women's Bodies Women's Wisdom, The Wisdom of Menopause among others. She joined Team Northrup and USANA Health Sciences in June of 2007.
She had been steadily building their USANA business and had reached the rank of Director when in the Fall of 2008, a family and personal crisis set her back, and she had to take a break from USANA in order to take care of them. The country was also in crisis and the situation required some creative banking and cutting back on everything. But what happened was short of amazing: despite this hiatus, the checks from USANA kept rolling in! This gelled her belief in the power of residual income: the work she had done prior to these events were still taking care of her now.
She is back to working her business – and it’s paying off more than ever! She's discovered that this is the sort of business that is merit based and will wait for her through the ebbs and flows of life.
